Summary

Rodolfo Durán, a 28-year-old Dominican catcher, was called up by the San Diego Padres to make his MLB debut on May 22, 2026, replacing Luis Campusano who was placed on the 10-day IL with a broken left toe. Durán signed with the Padres in January 2025 after spending time in the minor leagues with the Phillies, Yankees, and Royals organizations. He was batting .238 with a .785 OPS in 23 games for Triple-A El Paso before his call-up. Padres manager Craig Stammen praised Durán's defensive abilities, arm strength, and recent offensive improvements, noting the team "really loved what we saw from him in spring training this year and what he did last year in Triple-A." Durán made his debut batting ninth and catching right-hander Michael King.
