Corey Seager -- Injury Report

Injury Report sources for Corey Seager of the Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers placed shortstop Corey Seager on the 10-day injured list on May 13 with a right hamstring strain, retroactive to May 11. This marks the second occurrence of a hamstring injury for Seager in less than two weeks, following a similar injury that sidelined him from April 23 to May 2. Manager Bruce Bochy indicated the current strain affects a different area of the hamstring than the previous injury, but the team is taking a cautious approach with their star player.

Bochy emphasized the Rangers' priority is ensuring Seager fully heals rather than returning prematurely, stating "We don't want him playing at 75, 80 percent. It could be [more than 10 days]." The recovery timeline may exceed the standard 10-day IL stint. The Rangers will be without their offensive centerpiece, as evidenced by their recent performance: during Seager's previous absence, the team lost eight of ten games, scoring only 14 runs across nine games (excluding a 15-2 win over Oakland) while posting a .201/.235/.299 slash line.

Seager, who is batting .300/.346/.520 this season in 26 games, had two homers and a double in his last game action on Saturday before the injury. In a corresponding move, catcher Kyle Higashioka was activated from the IL after recovering from a left intercostal strain. Higashioka appeared in two rehab games with Triple-A Round Rock, going 2-for-8 with two doubles.
