Jake Fraley -- Injury Report
Injury Report sources for Jake Fraley of the Tampa Bay Rays
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jake Fraley was removed from Tuesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds with a right lower-leg contusion. The injury occurred in the second inning when Fraley fouled a pitch directly off his leg. Despite the immediate injury, Fraley continued playing until the fourth inning when he was ultimately removed from the game. The Rays are currently listing Fraley as day-to-day, though the team anticipates he may need to sit out one or two games to allow lingering soreness to subside before returning to the lineup.
Jake Fraley was officially placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to Wednesday, after an MRI revealed a muscle bleed at the top of his left calf. Fraley had been day-to-day since Wednesday and attempted to push through the injury, completing pregame warmups Friday before being scratched less than 30 minutes before first pitch. The outfielder expressed confidence about the timeline, stating he believes the injury requires no tearing and that six days of rest combined with a steroid treatment course should allow his return to the lineup.
To fill Fraley's roster spot, the Reds activated Connor Joe, who was acquired from the San Diego Padres on Friday. Joe was activated Saturday and inserted into the lineup in left field. Joe brings MLB experience across six seasons with four different teams (Pirates, Rockies, Giants, and Padres), posting a career .241 batting average with 35 home runs and 141 RBIs. Prior to the trade, Joe spent the majority of the 2025 season with Triple-A El Paso, batting .267 with 4 RBIs in 16 games, and appeared in 7 games for San Diego going 0-for-9. Joe had previous familiarity with the Reds organization, having attended their 2019 Spring Training as a Rule 5 pick before being traded to the Giants.
