The Seattle Mariners defeated the Atlanta Braves 5-4 on Monday night in a comeback victory at T-Mobile Park. The Braves dominated early, with Drake Baldwin hitting a solo home run in the first inning to give Atlanta a 1-0 lead. The scoring remained limited until the sixth inning, when the Braves broke through against Mariners starter Logan Gilbert, who allowed back-to-back home runs from Ozzie Albies and Matt Olson, followed by a third home run from Austin Riley in the same inning to extend the lead to 4-0. Per Baseball Savant, Gilbert surrendered 10 balls hit at over 100 mph exit velocity, with five exceeding 105 mph.
The Mariners responded in the bottom of the sixth inning with a dramatic rally. Luke Raley's three-run home run cut the deficit to one, and J.P. Crawford followed with a two-run homer to give Seattle a 5-4 advantage that held through the end of the game. The Braves entered Monday as baseball's best team, winning 15 of their last 18 games, but played without outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. due to injury. The Mariners were similarly hampered, missing star catcher Cal Raleigh for the third consecutive game with a sore side.
