Brandon Lowe -- Injury Report
Injury Report sources for Brandon Lowe of the Pittsburgh Pirates
Brandon Lowe is dealing with left knee pain and is listed as day-to-day by Pirates manager Don Kelly. While Kelly expressed optimism about Lowe's recovery and indicated he may return soon, Lowe was ruled out of the lineup for the April 20 game against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. Nick Gonzales will replace him as the starting second baseman.
Lowe has had an excellent start with the Pirates since being acquired from Tampa Bay this offseason. In 19 games, he is batting .267 with a .375 on-base percentage and .600 slugging percentage for a .975 OPS. He has recorded 20 hits, 4 doubles, 7 home runs, 18 RBI, and 12 walks against 18 strikeouts, leading the Pirates in home runs. He has started in 19 of the Pirates' 22 games, including 18 contests at second base.
This is Lowe's second injury-related absence of the 2026 season, as he previously missed a Spring Training game on March 11 with lower body tightness. During his seven seasons with the Rays, Lowe dealt with a pattern of injuries that limited his availability, including shin bruises, back discomfort, triceps contusion, knee fracture, oblique strains, and foot/ankle tendinitis.
