Juan Soto -- General News

General News sources for Juan Soto of the New York Mets

Juan Soto sustained an ankle injury scare during Wednesday's game against the Tigers when he fouled a ball off his ankle in the third inning. Though he continued playing, he was removed as a precautionary measure in the seventh inning with runners in scoring position. X-rays revealed no damage, and Soto indicated the removal was simply a cautious decision. "I've done it before," Soto said. "I wasn't able to push at that point, it was getting slow, so I was just trying to make the smart move but I know how to handle it."

Soto returned to the lineup Thursday for the series finale and immediately made an impact. After going out in his first two at-bats, he delivered a two-out go-ahead single in the fifth inning and a solo homer to center leading off the seventh. The performance comes after a difficult May in which Soto hit just .146 with 3 RBI and a .502 OPS over 11 games.

The Mets secured a series sweep of the Tigers with the victory, improving to 8-4 in May and taking 3 of 4 series. "It shows we're capable of doing whatever we want," Soto said. "At the end of the day it's all about us -- what we want to do is right there in front of us, we just have to go out there and get it." New York will next face the slumping Yankees in the Subway Series this weekend.
