Bo Bichette -- Injury Report

Injury Report sources for Bo Bichette of the New York Mets

The New York Mets are managing multiple roster disruptions as injuries force positional changes. After signing Bo Bichette to a three-year, $126 million contract in the offseason, the organization moved him from shortstop to third base to accommodate Francisco Lindor, one of baseball's premier shortstops. However, Lindor suffered a left calf strain, and his backup Ronny Mauricio fractured his thumb during Saturday's game, prompting the Mets to activate Bichette at shortstop for Sunday's matchup against the Los Angeles Angels.

On Sunday, the Mets placed Mauricio on the 10-day injured list and recalled third baseman Vidal Brujan from Syracuse. Bichette, who is performing below expectations at .237/.276/.319 with 2 home runs and 15 RBIs, acknowledged the position change after the game, stating "Whatever the team needs." The Mets expect to return Lindor to the lineup later this month or in early June, at which point Bichette would return to third base.

The positional juggling reflects broader struggles for the Mets, who own baseball's worst record at 11-22. The organization will deploy Brett Baty and Vidal Brujan at third base during Lindor's absence, with first baseman Mark Vientos also capable of playing the position. Baty has appeared in 248 games at third base over five seasons with the team.
