Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Greg Jones, a first-round pick by the Rays (2019) out of UNC-Wilmington, was outrighted to Triple-A by the Brewers on May 8, 2024. The speedster with elite speed and power tools was called up in mid-April when Christian Yelich landed on the IL. In his brief 11-game MLB cameo with Milwaukee, Jones went 2-21 with 9 strikeouts across 22 plate appearances. He was squeezed off the roster when Chourio and Vaughn returned from injury. Jones has bounced between multiple organizations (Rays, Rockies, White Sox, Astros) and has struggled to establish himself at the major league level despite his prospect pedigree. His infield defense concerns and pure hitting ability issues have proven to be legitimate obstacles to his development.
