José Ramírez -- Injury Report

Injury Report sources for José Ramírez of the Cleveland Guardians

José Ramírez, a 33-year-old player described as indispensable to the Guardians' 2026 plans, was removed from Sunday's Cactus League game against the A's after sustaining a left shoulder injury. The injury occurred when Ramírez jammed his shoulder sliding into third base in the second inning after hitting a double and stealing third. He had completed one at-bat before being replaced by Carter Kieboom in the bottom of the fourth inning. Manager Stephen Vogt characterized the injury as day-to-day with left shoulder inflammation, noting that Monday would likely bring further updates.

The Guardians defeated the A's 12-6 and have seven Cactus League games plus two exhibitions remaining before Opening Day on March 26 in Seattle. The team plans to be cautious with Ramírez's recovery. Third base depth includes Daniel Schneemann (returning this week from an ankle sprain) and Gabriel Arias, with non-roster invitee Carter Kieboom also available. The team has positional flexibility with Arias capable of playing both shortstop and third base, and second baseman Brayan Rocchio being a natural shortstop.
