Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Kerry Carpenter, 28-year-old Detroit Tigers right fielder, was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 10, 2026, with a left AC joint sprain. The injury occurred on May 9 when Carpenter crashed into the right-field wall at Kaufmann Stadium while pursuing a Bobby Witt Jr. inside-the-park home run in Kansas City's 5-1 victory. He remained in the game initially but was removed prior to the third inning. Carpenter is currently struggling offensively with a .216 batting average, 6 home runs, and 17 RBIs over 117 plate appearances. In his last 10 games, he posted a .167 average with a .481 OPS. His strikeout rate has spiked to 34.2%, well above his career 24.6% mark. The Tigers selected Gage Workman's contract from Triple-A to fill the roster spot, and Justin Verlander was moved to the 60-day IL to clear 40-man roster space. This marks the 15th player on Detroit's IL.
