Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Cody Freeman, a versatile utility player for the Texas Rangers, has been sidelined since mid-February with a stress reaction in his lower back. After nearly six weeks of recovery, he experienced a setback in early May 2026 that will require him to take several days off from fielding activities. The Rangers initially hoped to have him back before May 24 (the first day IL-eligible players from the start of the season could return), but the setback has pushed his expected return to late May or early June. Freeman has been working out at the Rangers' Arizona facility but remains unable to participate in games.
