Scouting Report
Updated May 19, 2026
Jorge Polanco, signed to a 2-year, $40M deal with the Mets to replace Pete Alonso at first base, has been sidelined since mid-April with multiple injuries. Initially placed on the IL with a right wrist contusion after just 14 games, Polanco subsequently developed Achilles bursitis that has become the primary concern. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection approximately one month ago but remains without a clear return timeline. Manager Carlos Mendoza indicated Polanco has "good days and bad days," with the wrist progressing but Achilles bursitis continuing to flare up. The 32-year-old has missed 26 games in his first month and a half with the team and requires the Achilles to become "asymptomatic" before returning. He is currently taking batting practice but has not yet been cleared for a rehab assignment.
