General News sources for Caleb Durbin of the Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox completed a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday to acquire infielder Caleb Durbin, addressing their need for a second or third baseman after Alex Bregman's departure. The six-player deal sent David Hamilton, Kyle Harrison, and Shane Drohan to Milwaukee in exchange for Durbin, Andruw Monasterio, utility player Anthony Seigler, and a competitive balance Round B draft pick (67th overall).

Durbin, 25, is a right-handed batter standing 5'7" and weighing 183 pounds. Originally drafted 427th overall by the Atlanta Braves in 2021 from Washington University in St. Louis, he progressed through multiple organizations' minor league systems before making his MLB debut with the Brewers on April 16, 2025. In his rookie season, he appeared in 136 games, posting a .256 batting average, .334 on-base percentage, and .387 slugging percentage for a combined .721 OPS. He accumulated 114 hits including 25 doubles, 11 home runs, 53 RBIs, 18 stolen bases, and 30 walks against 50 strikeouts, finishing with a 2.8 WAR.

Durbin finished third in National League Rookie of the Year voting and brings elite contact skills to the Red Sox lineup. He ranked in the 98th percentile in strikeout percentage (9.9%), 96th percentile in whiff percentage (13.0%), and 72nd percentile in chase percentage (24.6%) during 2025. While not a power bat, Durbin provides above-average bat-to-ball skills and defensive versatility at both infield corners.
