Mauricio Dubón -- Injury Report

Ha-Seong Kim is progressing faster than expected in his recovery from a right middle finger tendon injury suffered in January when he slipped on ice in South Korea. After an initial prognosis of 4-5 months, Kim will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Columbus this week, ahead of his full return to the Atlanta Braves. The Braves signed the shortstop to a one-year, $20 million deal in the offseason to stabilize a historically weak position.

In Kim's absence, Mauricio Dubon has been a major contributor. Through 27 games, the veteran utility player is batting .283 with a .765 OPS, significantly outperforming expectations as fill-in shortstop. This creates a roster management question for manager Walt Weiss, but Dubon's defensive versatility provides a solution. A two-time AL Gold Glove winner, Dubon can play every position except catcher, allowing the Braves to potentially keep both players in their lineup once Kim returns.

With Atlanta holding the best record in baseball at 20-9, the team faces a favorable problem. Rather than displacing Kim at shortstop, the Braves can leverage Dubon's positional flexibility to accommodate both players.
