Brent Rooker -- Injury Report

Injury Report sources for Brent Rooker of the Athletics

Brent Rooker returned to the A's lineup Sunday against the Rangers after spending 16 days on the injured list with a right oblique strain. The injury occurred April 9 at Yankee Stadium during his first at-bat. Rooker's recovery was notably quick; oblique injuries typically require 4-6 weeks, but symptoms subsided within days and activity resumed sooner than anticipated.

Rooker had maintained elite offensive production over the past three seasons, posting a .853 OPS from 2023-25, the fifth-best among AL players with at least 400 games. However, he struggled early this season, batting .146/.245/.293 with a 34.7% strikeout rate over 12 games before the injury, a significant increase from his 22.2% rate in 2025.

During his recovery, Rooker reviewed video of his most productive at-bats to identify mechanical adjustments. He stated: 'I spent the time watching a lot of video of times that I've been at my best, and trying to re-create those moves, and trying to see what that looked like.' He noted improved symptoms and accelerated rehabilitation allowed his quick return to action.
