Gabriel Moreno -- Injury Report

The Arizona Diamondbacks activated catcher Gabriel Moreno from the 10-day injured list on May 1, 2026, following his recovery from a strained left oblique. Moreno started the team's series opener against the Chicago Cubs but struggled in his return, going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in a 6-5 loss.

Manager Torey Lovullo emphasized Moreno's importance to the team, stating: "Having Gabby healthy and in this lineup means we're a different team. It's the quality of at-bat, it's how he controls the running game defensively, how he runs the game behind the plate." Concurrently, the Diamondbacks recalled left-hander Brandyn Garcia from Triple-A Reno. Garcia pitched two perfect innings in the loss to the Cubs with support from a running catch by Tim Tawa. The 25-year-old lefty was 0-1 with a 2.19 ERA in 10 appearances for Reno, with 18 strikeouts in 12⅓ innings. He was acquired in the Josh Naylor trade and previously pitched for Arizona and Seattle last year with a 5.65 ERA. The team also sent down left-hander Philip Abner and designated catcher Aramis Garcia for assignment.
