Scouting Report: Zach Penrod
Washington Nationals | RP
Overall
Summary
Zach McKinstry was activated off the IL after sustaining a Grade 3 oblique tear off the pelvic bone on April 15 against the Royals. The injury resulted from three separate collisions during the game, including a violent head-first slide into home plate. Despite the severity of the injury (typically requiring 6-8 weeks recovery), McKinstry recovered quickly due to the unique nature of the tear location. He was able to throw immediately and reached 80% sprint speed by Day 6. McKinstry was reinstated and returned to the Tigers' lineup playing third base and batting eighth against the Red Sox.
Strengths
- Rapid recovery from Grade 3 oblique tear
