Jacob Young, 26-year-old Nationals outfielder, was hit by a 93 mph fastball to the ribs in the bottom of the second inning during Monday's game against the Mets. He was forced to leave the game immediately. X-rays came back negative, but he was diagnosed with a bruised rib and is considered day-to-day. He was held out of Tuesday's lineup pending re-evaluation. Prior to the injury, Young had been showing some offensive improvement with recent home runs and a hitting streak.
