Chase Solesky, 28-year-old right-handed pitcher from Tulane, was called up by the Tampa Bay Rays on May 8, 2026 to fill the roster spot left by Steven Matz's left elbow inflammation (15-day IL). Solesky became the 31st player in Tulane program history to reach MLB. However, he was optioned back to Triple-A Durham the same day without making his major league debut. At Triple-A Durham, Solesky posted a 6.57 ERA with a 1.74 WHIP across 24.2 innings in six starts. He was originally signed by the Chicago White Sox in the 21st round of the 2019 MLB draft and spent time in the Nationals' system before signing a minor league contract with the Rays in January 2026.
