Scouting Report: Pete Hansen
St Louis Cardinals | SP
Overall
Summary
Pete Fairbanks, 32-year-old right-handed closer for the Miami Marlins, was placed on the 15-day IL on April 28 with nerve irritation in his right hand. He had a "very encouraging" bullpen session on Wednesday, with manager Clayton McCullough noting that Fairbanks was surprised at how well the ball came out of his hand. This is the first time Fairbanks has thrown off a mound since the injury. Fairbanks believes the current issue is less serious than a similar hand problem that caused him to miss three weeks in 2024. The Marlins are hopeful he can return around the time he becomes eligible for reinstatement from the IL. In 2026, Fairbanks has appeared in 9 innings, allowing 10 earned runs on 9 hits with 4 walks, 13 strikeouts, and 5 saves.
Strengths
- Very encouraging bullpen session
