Eduarniel Nunez, a former Top 25 prospect acquired from the Padres in the Mason Miller trade, was designated for assignment by the Athletics on May 12, 2026. The right-handed pitcher has struggled with control issues and a velocity decline in 2026. He posted a 7.11 ERA with 11:11 K:BB ratio over 12.2 innings in 2025 (between Padres and Athletics), and a 4.61 ERA with 17:11 K:BB over 13.2 innings in 2026 (split between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Las Vegas). Despite poor command, he retains elite arm strength (101 mph fastball) and several years of team control. The Baltimore Orioles subsequently acquired him via waivers on May 15, 2026.
