Scouting Report: Colt Emerson
Seattle Mariners | SS
Overall
Summary
Colt Emerson, the Seattle Mariners' top prospect and 22nd overall pick in the 2023 draft, made his MLB debut on May 17, 2026, at just 20 years old, becoming the youngest Mariners player to debut since Félix Hernández in 2005. Called up from Triple-A Tacoma to replace injured Brendan Donovan, Emerson went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in his debut against the Padres. In his second game on May 19, he hit a three-run homer for his first career hit in a 6-1 victory over the White Sox. Emerson signed an $95 million, eight-year contract extension in March—the largest ever for a prospect without MLB experience. He is ranked as The Athletic's No. 4 overall prospect and topped Keith Law's preseason rankings of Seattle's top 20 prospects.
