Scouting Report: Zach McCambley
Overall
Summary
Zach McKinstry was recently activated from the injured list after sustaining a Grade 3 oblique tear off the pelvic bone on April 15 during three separate collisions against the Royals. Despite the severity of the injury (typically requiring 6-8 weeks recovery), McKinstry recovered in just a couple of weeks and was reinstated to play third base. Manager A.J. Hinch was eager to get him back in the lineup. McKinstry demonstrated remarkable recovery, achieving 80% sprint speed by Day 6 and was able to throw immediately post-injury.
Strengths
- Rapid recovery from Grade 3 oblique tear (2 weeks vs typical 6-8 weeks)
- Cleared by specialist for return to play
