Scouting Report: Bryson Stott
Overall
Summary
Bryson Stott, Philadelphia Phillies second baseman, has shown significant improvement in May 2026 after a slow start to the season. After hitting just .207 through his first 25 games, Stott has surged with 3 home runs in early May and a 1.041 OPS. Most notably, he has dramatically improved against left-handed pitching (.308 BA, 1 HR in 13 AB), addressing a major weakness from 2024-2025 when he ranked 7th-worst in batting average against lefties among qualified hitters. Stott has made mechanical adjustments including increased bat speed (70.1 MPH, up from 68 MPH in 2023), improved hard hit rate (41.2%, up from 29.5% in 2025), and a shift from opposite-field to pull-side swing path (3° pull vs. 2° oppo in 2025). His barrel rate has improved to 6.9% and exit velocity to 90.5 MPH. Under interim manager Don Mattingly, the Phillies have gone 16-4 with Stott contributing key late-inning home runs, including a game-winning 2-run homer against Cincinnati.
