Scouting Report: Julian Smith
Milwaukee Brewers | RP
Overall
Summary
Josh Smith, 28-year-old Rangers second baseman, is currently on the 10-day injured list with a right glute strain (since May 4) and has developed additional wrist inflammation that will delay his rehab program. He was eligible to return May 15 but the new wrist issue will push that date back by at least a few days. Prior to his IL placement, Smith was struggling significantly, slashing .217/.324/.239 with 2 steals and 6 RBI across 108 plate appearances in 31 games. In his absence, backup infielders Ezequiel Duran and Justin Foscue have been performing well at second base.
Strengths
- Eligible for activation soon (minimum IL stint)
- Backup infielders performing well provides depth
