Summary

Jordan Westburg underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow on May 15, 2026, and will miss the entire 2026 season. The 27-year-old All-Star (2024) had a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament. He initially received a platelet-rich plasma injection in February as a conservative treatment option but the injury did not respond adequately. After attempting a progression in spring training, pain returned when he increased workout intensity, leading to the decision for surgery. GM Mike Elias indicated that a return as a full player in early 2027 is possible. Westburg has had a significant injury history, missing 77 games in 2025 due to hamstring, finger, and ankle injuries.
