Drew Romo is a switch-hitting catcher for the Chicago White Sox who has emerged as an unexpected power source in 2026. Called up from Triple-A Charlotte on April 25, Romo has hit 4 home runs in 27 at-bats, becoming the first catcher in White Sox history to homer from both sides of the plate on April 28. Despite entering the season with 54 career MLB at-bats and zero home runs, he is now fourth on the team in home runs. He has also drawn 8 walks with a .414 OBP despite a .150 batting average, posting a 1.014 OPS. Romo was previously claimed off waivers from the Mets in January after being a first-round draft pick of the Rockies. He has temporarily supplanted Edgar Quero as the team's primary catcher.
