Scouting Report: Caleb Baragar

Milwaukee Brewers | SP

C

Overall

IL-10

Summary

Addison Barger, 26-year-old Toronto Blue Jays outfielder/infielder, has had a disastrous 2026 season marked by recurring injuries. After missing 25 games with bilateral ankle issues (left ankle sprain), he was activated on May 9 and made an immediate impact defensively with a 101.2 mph throw to home plate. However, he was placed back on the 10-day IL just one day later due to right elbow joint inflammation. MRI confirmed no structural damage. He received a cortisone injection and will be shut down for 3-4 days. At the plate, Barger has struggled significantly with a .045 batting average (1-for-19) and .305 OPS in 28 plate appearances before his return. This marks a sharp decline from his breakout 2025 season when he hit 21 homers with a .765 OPS and was instrumental in Toronto's playoff run.

Strengths

  • Elite defensive arm strength (101.2 mph throw, hardest by Blue Jays position player since 2015)
  • Made immediate impact in return with double play assist
