Scouting Report: Kyle Hurt
Los Angeles Dodgers | RP
Overall
Summary
Kyle Hurt, 27-year-old right-handed relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has emerged as a potential closer prospect following a strong performance since his recent call-up in May 2026. After recovering from Tommy John surgery in July 2024 that cost him the entire 2025 season, Hurt returned to Spring Training healthy and was immediately called upon when Ben Casparius suffered shoulder inflammation. In nine innings pitched, Hurt has posted an impressive 1.00 ERA with a 0.92 FIP and 1.36 xERA. His fastball (70-grade from MLB Pipeline, 60-grade from FanGraphs) sits in the mid-90s and touches 99 mph with good carry, complemented by an upper-80s changeup (60-grade from both sites). MLB.com has identified him as having closer potential within the Dodgers organization. The bullpen has been performing exceptionally well, with an 18.0-inning scoreless streak, and Hurt has contributed significantly to this success.
