Scouting Report: Alek Manoah
Los Angeles Angels | SP
Overall
Summary
Alek Manoah was reinstated from the 15-day injured list on May 6, 2026, after beginning the season with a finger contusion (right middle fingernail fell off after a March 17 start). The 28-year-old right-hander made his Angels debut on May 8 against the Toronto Blue Jays, pitching one scoreless inning of relief with one strikeout. In his second appearance on May 12 against Cleveland, he threw five scoreless innings in relief, allowing two hits and five walks while striking out two. This marks his first MLB action since May 2024, following Tommy John surgery in June 2024 and a full 2025 season spent in rehab. Manoah was designated for assignment by Toronto in September 2025, briefly signed with Atlanta, and then signed a one-year deal with the Angels in December 2025. He had a difficult spring training with a 9.39 ERA and made one rehab start in single-A (4.1 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 2 K). Early returns show promise with control issues but solid results.
Strengths
- Scoreless innings in first two appearances (6 IP total)
- Strikeout ability still present (3 K in 6 IP)
