Scouting Report: Ryan Nutof
Houston Astros | RP
Overall
Summary
Joe Ryan, 29-year-old right-handed pitcher for the Minnesota Twins, experienced an elbow scare during his start against the Blue Jays when he exited in the first inning after just nine pitches due to elbow discomfort. However, an MRI revealed no structural damage, which was excellent news for the Twins. Ryan has since progressed well through his recovery protocol, playing catch and completing a bullpen session where he reported feeling good with strong velocities and effective offspeed pitches. He is on track to make his next scheduled start against Cleveland, representing a best-case scenario outcome. Ryan has been a steady performer in the AL since 2021, posting a 3.79 ERA with a strong 27.5% strikeout rate and excellent 5.7% walk rate across 123 appearances.
Strengths
- No structural damage confirmed by MRI
