Summary
Luke Shliger was released by the SF Giants organization after being a sixth-round pick in 2023 out of the University of Maryland. He was activated from the injured list by the Eugene Emeralds but was subsequently released. Shliger had a quality hit tool with good strike zone discipline but very limited power upside. Across four minor league seasons, he posted a .253/.384/.348 line with a 15.2% walk rate, 21.1% strikeout rate, and .095 ISO. On defense, he was a quality receiver with a strong arm, throwing out 24 runners in 62 attempts (29% caught stealing rate). He started the 2026 season with Eugene with just 2 hits in 10 at-bats before being released.
