Summary
Francisco Alvarez, 24-year-old Mets catcher, suffered a right knee meniscus tear on May 13, 2026, during the sixth inning of a game against the Detroit Tigers while fouling off a pitch. He was placed on the 10-day injured list and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with surgery required. Alvarez was batting .241/.317/.393 with 4 home runs and a 105 wRC+ in 128 plate appearances before the injury. Luis Torrens will take over as the everyday catcher with Hayden Senger as backup. This is the third meniscus tear injury for the Mets this season.
