Summary
Brendan Donovan, the Seattle Mariners' All-Star third baseman and key offseason acquisition from the Cardinals, has been activated from the 10-day injured list after recovering from a left groin strain. Donovan had been sidelined since April 18 following sports hernia surgery in the offseason. He underwent a one-game rehab assignment with Double-A Arkansas, going 1-for-3 with a double and two walks. When healthy this season, Donovan has been one of the Mariners' best hitters, batting .304 with a .437 OBP, .518 SLG, .954 OPS, 3 home runs, 3 doubles, and 9 walks in 18 games. He was inserted back into the lineup at third base and leadoff spot for the Mariners' series opener against the White Sox in Chicago on Friday.
