Summary
Eugenio Suárez (34-year-old veteran third baseman) is recovering from a left oblique strain suffered in late April 2026. As of mid-May, he is approximately 50% recovered according to manager Terry Francona. Suárez resumed hitting on Tuesday (May 12), underwent an MRI on Thursday (May 14) with positive results, and took batting practice on the field Friday (May 15). He is expected to travel with the team on an upcoming road trip and will likely begin a minor-league rehab assignment shortly. If recovery continues smoothly, he should return to the Reds' active roster before the end of May. Prior to injury, Suárez was hitting .231 (21-for-91) with 3 home runs, 11 RBIs, and 10 runs scored in 25 games.
