Scouting Report: Chase Petty
Cincinnati Reds | SP
Overall
Summary
Chase Petty, 23-year-old Cincinnati Reds prospect, has shown significant improvement in his 2026 season. After a rough debut last season (19.50 ERA in 6 innings), Petty was recalled to start against the Cubs at Wrigley Field on May 4, 2026, where he pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed only 3 runs (all in one fourth-inning sequence). He retired 17 of 20 batters faced and impressed manager Terry Francona. However, Petty has dealt with recurring hand/finger issues including a blister and fingernail problems that caused him to exit early from a Louisville Bats start. He was subsequently sent back to Triple-A Louisville where he posted a 4.38 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings. Most recently, he had a poor outing at Triple-A Indianapolis, allowing 7 runs in 3 innings, though the blister appears to have been cleared.
