Scouting Report: Zach McAllister
Chicago Cubs | RP
Overall
Summary
Zach McKinstry was recently activated from the injured list after sustaining a Grade 3 oblique tear off the pelvic bone on April 15 during three separate collisions against the Royals. Despite the severity of the injury (typically requiring 6-8 weeks recovery), McKinstry recovered in just a couple of weeks due to the unique nature of the injury location. He was cleared by a specialist and returned to the Tigers' lineup batting eighth and playing third base. Manager A.J. Hinch expressed excitement about his return, noting McKinstry's quality as a player. McKinstry demonstrated rapid recovery, reaching 80% sprint speed by Day 6 and was able to throw immediately post-injury.
