Overall

IL-10

Summary

Cal Raleigh, the Seattle Mariners' star catcher and 2025 AL MVP runner-up, has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain. After leading MLB with 60 home runs and 125 RBIs in 2025, Raleigh has struggled dramatically in 2026, batting .161 with 7 home runs in 41 games. He was in the midst of a 36+ at-bat hitless streak before aggravating his oblique injury on May 14, 2026. The Mariners are optimistic the injury won't require a lengthy absence, with GM Justin Hollander noting MRI scans showed the injury was "similar or slightly improved." Raleigh will receive a PRP injection and be shut down for approximately one week before re-evaluation. The injury is complicated by his switch-hitting approach.

Strengths

  • Mariners optimistic about recovery timeline
  • MRI scans show injury similar or slightly improved from initial scan
