Scouting Report: Vaun Brown
Chicago Cubs | LF
Overall
Summary
Hunter Brown, Houston Astros right-hander, was transferred to the 60-day injured list on May 9, 2026, due to a Grade 2 right shoulder strain sustained in early April. The move does not significantly affect his expected return timeline of approximately two months. Brown successfully completed his first bullpen session on Friday and is progressing well in his recovery. Manager Joe Espada noted Brown's eagerness to return, with the pitcher constantly inquiring about next steps. Brown is expected to throw multiple additional bullpen sessions before progressing to live batting practice and a minor-league rehab assignment. Barring setbacks, he is projected to return to Houston's starting rotation by the end of May. Prior to injury, Brown had an impressive start to the 2026 season, allowing just one earned run with six walks and 17 strikeouts across 10 2/3 innings in his first two starts. Brown was named an All-Star in 2025 for the first time in his career.
