Summary

Cole Ragans, 28-year-old All-Star left-handed pitcher for the Kansas City Royals, was placed on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to May 7) with left elbow impingement, diagnosed as Valgus Extension Overload (VEO), commonly known as "pitcher's elbow." Ragans exited his Wednesday start against Cleveland after 3 innings with soreness and tightness in his triceps and back of elbow. He underwent a lubricant injection and will be shut down for 3-4 days before resuming baseball activities. Manager Matt Quatraro expects a minimal IL stay with no structural damage confirmed. Ragans has a history of two Tommy John surgeries (2018, 2019) but stated this injury feels different. Currently posting a 4.84 ERA in 8 starts with 10 home runs allowed in 35.1 innings. The Royals recalled Stephen Kolek and Steven Cruz to replace him in the rotation.

Strengths
