Scouting Report: Nolan Blackwood
Chicago Cubs | RP
Overall
Summary
Tyler Black was optioned to Triple-A Nashville to make room for Christian Yelich's return from a groin injury. Black had been filling in as DH during Yelich's absence and performed well alongside Gary Sánchez. However, with Yelich, Andrew Vaughn, Jake Bauers, and the catching tandem of William Contreras and Sánchez all healthy, there is limited playing time available for Black at first base or DH. This is Black's final minor league option year, and his future with the Brewers organization remains uncertain given the crowded roster situation.
Strengths
- Performed well as DH during Yelich's absence
- Demonstrated ability to contribute at the major league level
