Scouting Report: Miguel Diaz
Chicago Cubs | RP
Overall
Summary
Edwin Díaz, the Los Angeles Dodgers' three-time All-Star closer signed to a three-year, $69 million deal in December 2025, was transferred to the 60-day injured list on May 10, 2026, after undergoing arthroscopic elbow surgery on April 22 to remove loose bodies from his right elbow. Díaz had a disastrous 2026 debut with a 10.50 ERA across seven appearances before the injury, including an April 20 outing where he failed to record a single out while allowing three runs. He is not eligible to return until at least June 19, with the earliest realistic return date expected to be after the All-Star break in mid-July. The move was made to clear roster space for relief pitcher Wyatt Mills.
Strengths
- Three-time All-Star closer with proven track record
- Expected to begin playing catch later in May once stitches are removed
