Summary

Logan Webb, the Giants' Opening Day starter and two-time All-Star, was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 9, 2026, due to right knee bursitis. Webb had been dealing with the knee issue for an extended period but attempted to pitch through it, finally being removed after just four innings in a game against San Diego on May 7, where he allowed 6 runs on 7 hits. This marks his first IL stint since July 2021 (back injury) and ends a streak of 156 consecutive starts. Webb struggled early in the 2026 season with a 2-4 record, 5.06 ERA, and 1.396 WHIP through 8 starts. The knee issue has reportedly affected his ability to fully utilize his delivery and locate pitches effectively. He is eligible to return on May 21 and the team expects him to need the minimum time on the IL.
