Scouting Report: Kalae Harrison

Chicago Cubs | SS

C

Overall

IL-10

Summary

Cal Raleigh, the 2025 AL MVP runner-up and 60 home run leader, has experienced a dramatic regression in 2026. The star catcher is hitting .161 (second-lowest in MLB among qualified hitters) with 7 home runs in 41 games after an historic 2025 season. Raleigh was placed on the 10-day IL on May 15, 2026 with a right oblique strain after aggravating the injury during a game against Houston on May 14. He had been dealing with general right-side soreness since early May. The Mariners expect a short absence (1-2 weeks) with PRP treatment and rest. Raleigh's struggles appear rooted in mechanical issues - rolling over and popping up more frequently rather than making hard contact as he did in 2025. His poor performance began in spring training during the World Baseball Classic where he went 0-for-9.

Strengths

  • Mariners optimistic about short recovery timeline (1-2 weeks)
  • MRI imaging showed injury was similar or slightly improved from initial scan
