José Caballero, Yankees shortstop, was placed on the 10-day IL with a right middle finger fracture sustained while sliding into a base. He initially missed time with an elbow injury from being hit by a pitch but remained in games. Caballero has been performing well offensively (.316 BA, .896 OPS over his last 22 games) with strong defensive grades and 13 stolen bases on the season. He expects to return within 10 days and has been promised the starting shortstop role upon return. Anthony Volpe was recalled as the corresponding move.
