Scouting Report: Jimmy Robbins
Chicago Cubs | SP
Overall
Summary
Robby Snelling, a highly-regarded 22-year-old left-handed pitcher and the Miami Marlins' No. 2 prospect (ranked 29th overall in baseball), suffered a UCL sprain in his left elbow just five days after making his major league debut on May 8, 2026. In his debut against Washington, Snelling allowed 3 runs over 5 innings while walking 4 and striking out 2 in a 3-2 loss. He reported discomfort following a bullpen session on May 13 and was placed on the 15-day IL on May 14. The severity of the injury is undetermined, but Tommy John surgery is a possibility that could sideline him for the remainder of 2026 and potentially most of 2027. Prior to his debut, Snelling dominated Triple-A with a 1.86 ERA, 44 strikeouts, and a .116 batting average against over 29 innings in 6 starts. He was acquired from the San Diego Padres in the 2024 Tanner Scott trade.
