Summary
Endy Rodriguez, 25-year-old Pirates catcher and 2022 minor league player of the year, was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on May 12, 2026, to replace Joey Bart who was placed on the 10-day IL with a left foot infection. Rodriguez is returning to MLB for the first time in nearly a year after missing the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. He played only 18 games in 2025 before suffering a laceration on his right hand in April and elbow inflammation in June. At Triple-A Indianapolis this season, Rodriguez batted .221/.326/.301 with 6 doubles, 1 home run, and 16 RBIs in 34 games, splitting time between catcher (20 starts) and designated hitter (13 starts). He will serve as backup to Henry Davis with the Pirates' competitive pitching staff.
