Scouting Report: Jackson Stephens
Chicago Cubs | RP
Overall
Summary
Right-hander Stephen Jones was signed to a minor league deal with the Marlins and promoted to the major league roster on May 7th as an emergency bullpen arm following Chris Paddack's designation for assignment. Jones was called up from Triple-A Jacksonville but never appeared in a game for Miami. He was designated for assignment the next day and subsequently outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville after clearing waivers. Jones served as a temporary roster filler while the Marlins shuffled their bullpen (cycling through William Kempner and Dax Fulton) before promoting Robby Snelling to take Paddack's rotation spot. This is Jones' first outright assignment and he has less than three years of service time.
