Scouting Report: Jack O'Loughlin
Chicago Cubs | SP
Overall
Summary
Ryan O'Hearn, not Jack O'Loughlin, was placed on the 10-day injured list by the Pittsburgh Pirates on May 18, 2026, due to a moderate right quadriceps strain (near hip flexor). O'Hearn suffered the injury while playing first base against Philadelphia on May 17, colliding with batter Bryson Stott while catching a pop-up. The 32-year-old underwent an MRI and reported the quad "grabbing" when attempting more than a walk or slow jog. O'Hearn had been one of the Pirates' top offensive contributors in his first season, batting .289 with 7 home runs and 29 RBIs across 44 games. GM Ben Cherington indicated the quad strain is moderate and expected to sideline O'Hearn for approximately four weeks. Jake Mangum was activated from the IL to replace him.
Strengths
- Strong offensive production (.289 BA, 7 HR, 29 RBIs in 44 games)
