Scouting Report: Hunter Dula
Chicago Cubs | RP
Overall
Summary
Chase Dollander, the Colorado Rockies' 24-year-old right-hander and 9th overall pick from the 2023 draft, was placed on the 15-day injured list with a minor right elbow UCL sprain after being pulled from a start in Pittsburgh on May 14, 2026. MRI imaging revealed only minor inflammation around the ligament with no tear, avoiding the need for Tommy John surgery. Dollander had been performing well this season with a 3.35 ERA over 43 innings with a 26% strikeout rate and 99 mph fastball velocity before the injury. He first felt arm discomfort after a start in Philadelphia and experienced a slight velocity dip (97-98 mph) in his final outing. Dollander expressed relief that the injury was not more severe and is optimistic about recovery.
Strengths
- Dodged major UCL tear that would require Tommy John surgery
- MRI showed only minor inflammation, best-case scenario for elbow injury
